Doubles!

This little daisy is a type of Arctotis. They look quite pretty and come in a variety of colours such as yellow, red, orange and purples (and mixed shades inbetween). I quite like them. They are a daisy, so they flower profusely and the main issue I have with them is they have a bad habit of wilting easily in the summer. They are a daisy that likes to be kept reasonably damp. The flower in the center of this photo is actually a bit of a freak  As you can see from the flower in the top left of the picture, its not meant to have petals in the center of the flower. This is a good example of how 'double' flowers are formed (a double flower is any form of flower that has more then one row of petals around the edge of the bloom, most roses are a good example of this and they are big clusters of petals, camellias are another good example). Its a freak in nature, isolated and bred to emphasize that characteristic. Ive never seen Arctotis available as a double, so I imagine this would be difficult to do with this species. But it is nice to see a random freak shining brightly
